Kansas-Oklahoma State Game To Be Featured on Fox Sports Net

The Big 12 Conference announced its 2012 college baseball television schedule on cable station Fox Sports Net Monday. Six games will be featured in this package, including the Kansas-Oklahoma State game to be played at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium on Saturday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m.

The television appearance marks the sixth-straight season that FSN has chosen the Jayhawks to appear on its national college game of the week.

All 56 Kansas Baseball Games to Air on Jayhawk All-Access/KLWN Radio

For the first time in program history, all 56 Kansas baseball regular season games during the 2012 season will air on Jayhawk All-Access or KLWN Radio (1320 AM). The addition makes more than 225 events Jayhawk All-Access will produce during the 2011-12 academic year.

It also marks the first time that the entire baseball schedule has been carried via live broadcast.

Jayhawk All-Access will carry audio for 26 games throughout the season with free video coverage available for a majority of the home contests. KLWN Radio will pick up coverage on Tuesday, March 27 for the game at Missouri State at 6:30 p.m., and continue throughout the regular season. Fans can still tune in to Jayhawk All-Access for video coverage during KU home games. 

“I'm really excited that our kids’ parents, alums, and fans will all be able to follow our team throughout the entire 2012 baseball season,” Kansas Head Coach Ritch Price said.

Veteran play-by-play man Tom Hedrick as well as Jayhawk All-Access broadcaster Kyle West will provide a majority of the coverage throughout the year with KLWN Sports Director Brian Hanni also joining the broadcasts.

Kansas Baseball Announces Captains for 2012

Senior pitcher Jordan Jakubov and infielders Chris Manship and Jake Marasco have been named team captains of the Kansas baseball team for the 2012 season head coach Ritch Price announced Wednesday. All three players will be captains for the first time this season.

“In 2012, we will field one of the youngest teams in the country with 17 freshmen and sophomores. The leadership of our team captains will be crucial to the success of our team,” Price said. “Each of these young men will need to lead by example and help our young guys play through the adversity that comes with competing in one of the best conferences in the country.”

Former Jayhawk Coach Bingham Elected to State Baseball Hall of Fame

Former KU baseball head coach Dave Bingham has been elected to the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame in Wichita. Bingham along with former Wichita State pitcher Darren Dreifort, former college umpire Bob Homolka, former major leaguers Lee Stevens and the late Joseph Vaughan and 14 Negro League players will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame on Feb. 4.
